Inspire Workshop

Inspire Workshop is a registered non profit-making theatre organization in Hong Kong. Registered in 6th Jan 2009, members are from different theatrical aspects including lighting, sound, video designers and actors. We aspire to use different angles such as technology and new media to create new theatrical aesthetics. Main creative members include Ray Law, Jacky Yik Kei Chan, Victor Sham and Samuel Chan.

 

Inspire Workshop is formed in a goal to mix new media and performance in theatre work. As we agree that technology grows in popularity in our daily life, it inevitably manipulates art. Yet we weigh heavily on organic technological usage in both design and content of the work.

 

Our previous works ran along the path of total theatre, stressing the balance and organic combination of all theatrical elements.

 

During 2010-2012, we created a series of autobiographical production of Jacklam's 20th anniversary,Jacklam's 21st anniversary and Jacklam always. Using new media, we explore the performance style of autobiography as performance. In this growing self-proclaiming world, we reflect on the influence and significance of media including television, internet and theatre.

Based on Love is Colder Than the Capital by René Pollesch, we created Love is Colder Than the Capital Deconstructed in 2015, in a way to explore the capitalism, criticism to theatre and how it is connected to theatre in Hong Kong. The work has claimed nomination of Best Director, Excellent Actress, Excellent Actor and Best Stage Effect (Renounced) in The Hong Kong Theatre Libre by 101arts.net. In Jun 2016, the work is invited to be reproduced in BOK Festival in Macau.

Inspire Workshop為一香港非牟利劇場創作團體。成立於2009年1月6日,成員來自舞台藝術不同範疇的專業,包括燈光設計師、音響設計師、錄像設計師、演員等,期望以科技,技術,新媒體設計等不同的視點切入劇場,開掘出新的劇場美學。主要創作成員包括羅文偉,陳翊麒,岑宗達,陳鈞至。

  

Inspire Workshop成立的目的在於創作揉合新媒體及表演之藝術作品。我們認為當媒體科技對日常生活的影響日漸擴大的時候,藝術創作將無可避免地在內容上甚至形式上對這些科技有所指涉及挪用。而我們強調劇場內的技術運用不單純地應用在其製作設計上,而需要與作品內的有機結合。

創作方面,我們沿用總體劇場(Total Theatre) 的風格,強調一切舞台元素的整合,更強調劇場的演出必須把觀眾也包括其中,令觀眾和表演者完全籠罩在劇場的範圍,形成一個劇場的總體效果。

於2010至2012年間,我們分別創作了《二十仍在》,《二十然後》及《二十常在》,三個都是以自傳(Autobiography)為題,以媒體為用的劇場作品。探索自傳式劇場的表演形式,以及反省在這個標榜自我的世代中,各種媒體(電視、網絡甚至劇場)對我們自身的影響、自傳式內容對藝術創作以致社會的意義。

於2015年創作了《愛比資本更冷Deconstructed》,建基於瑞內‧波列許(René Pollesch)編導的《愛比資本更冷》,嘗試探索劇本當中對資本主義,劇場的批判,與香港對應的可能性。《愛比資本更冷Deconstructed》獲提名第8屆香港小劇場獎最佳導演,優秀女演員,優秀男演員以及最佳舞台效果(放棄角逐)。2016年6月獲澳門劇場搏劇場邀請,重演《愛比資本更冷Deconstructed》。

2016年創作了《觸怒你:劇場裡的不可能》,運用Peter Handke的說話劇形式,對劇場在現今社會的存在價值作出質疑及反省,并對文化及資助政策作出批判。
